Do you ever read a book and you feel like you’re just talking to one of your girlfriends in front of a cup of tea – or a glass of wine? That’s how I felt reading Patricia Bright’s book, Heart & Hustle. I loved every page of it and it was so helpful in my entrepreneurial journey, so I decided to review it here because I definitely recommend you put it on your reading list.
When I first heard of it, it was probably through someone on social media, and it got my interest because I had been following Patricia Bright for a while but I didn’t know she had written a book. And also, if I can be completely honest, I was often disappointed when I purchased a book from someone that was already quite popular, because the book was often full of fluff and it didn’t go deep enough into anything, so I’m always quite skeptical and I read TONS of reviews. But that didn’t happen this time.
Who is Patricia Bright?
Table of Contents
In case you’re not familiar with her, Patricia Bright is a Youtuber, who started off reviewing products and sharing things and brands she loved, and was mostly focused in the beauty/fashion industry. After some time, she became an influencer and started her journey that brought her to some amazing places and reach huge achievements. Now she has a channel called The Break Platform where she helps people – especially Millennials, understand and sort out their finances. She talks about saving, investing, real estate, and everything related to money; I love her videos because they’re so easy to follow, very insightful and she also does a great job at simplifying things, because if you’re anything like me, some big financial terms sound very scary.
So not only is she stunning and super fashionable, but she is also money savvy and altogether a great entrepreneur. Patricia has a background in Finance, and that was actually her full-time job before she went into Youtube full-time.
But back to the book, I decided to buy it and read it after reading many positive reviews, and because she already had my attention from her Youtube channel, I also wanted to see what the book was about.

I would say this book would suit someone that knows they are meant to do something with their life, or someone who has a dream that wants to achieve, or even someone that has already started their entrepreneurial journey but still needs some help and direction.
IN HEART & HUSTLE, PATRICIA SHARES A LOT ABOUT HER STORY, WHICH IS ANOTHER REASON WHY I REALLY LOVED THE BOOK. I LOVE READING STORIES OF WOMEN WHO BUILT THEIR SUCCESS FROM THE GROUND UP, WITHOUT ANY HELP AND STARTING WITH NOTHING. AND PATRICIA BRIGHT IS ONE OF THEM. SHE TALKS ABOUT HER LIFE GROWING UP AND THE STEPS SHE TOOK TO GET TO WHERE SHE IS TODAY.
Of course I don’t want to spoiler it for you, but it’s very interesting to read about her background, especially growing up in London, it’s a reality I can relate to – I didn’t grow up there but I’ve been living there since I was 19 and I’ve been working hard to build my future since then. She doesn’t hide the struggles and sacrifices and I think that’s also what I really love about her. She is HONEST, and doesn’t shy away from sharing the struggles and the things she did before she actually became as successful as she is.
I always say this and I’ll never get tired of saying it: OVERNIGHT SUCCESS DOES NOT EXIST.
And it’s great to read these stories also because sometimes, when your motivation is low and you feel that you’re working super hard but you’re seeing no results, it helps and encourages you to read the stories of successful people who started out exactly like you. It’s a reminder that you shouldn’t give up and that every good thing requires sacrifices, a lot of work, and maybe some tears, but you will see the results eventually.
Aside from her story, Heart & Hustle is a mix of advice on starting and building your business online, so it does spend some time talking about building a brand on social media, it also talks about Patricia’s several business ventures, where she shares her wins and mistakes from each business, and she also talks about setting your goals and understanding what you truly want to do with your life.
Another thing that I loved about the book were the questions at the end of each chapter, they were created to guide and help the reader to not just read the book as fast as possible, but to actually focus and be intentional about what they are reading and put it in practice.
It’s a very common practice in personal development books, and though I wouldn’t say that this is 100% focused on that, it does encourage you to reflect on yourself, better yourself and grow to truly achieve your goals.
In Heart & Hustle, Patricia also spends some time talking about money – as you would expect since it’s her jam, and I found lots of helpful advice in there, from saving to budgeting, and all things finances. It’s definitely a good starting point if you’re a beginner, but it’s also a good reminder even if you’re not completely new in this journey.
Of course, the book also touches on mindset, which is essential no matter what you are trying to do and which direction you want to go, and Patricia does a great job at talking about limiting beliefs and also sharing some personal stories about that.
THE TRUTH IS, NO SUCCESS CAN TRULY BE ACHIEVED UNLESS WE ARE WILLING TO WORK ON OUR MINDSET, AND READING ABOUT IT ALSO IN HEART & HUSTLE WAS DEFINITELY ANOTHER BONUS POINT FOR ME. I FULLY BELIEVE THAT A STRATEGY CAN ONLY TAKE YOU SO FAR, BUT WHAT WILL TRULY MAKE A DIFFERENCE IS WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN AND HOW MUCH YOU WORK ON YOUR MINDSET.
Which is also another reason why I love Patricia Bright; she always talks about how important it is to invest in yourself. And not only in the book, but also in her Youtube channel and social media posts; she puts a lot of focus on that, and rightly so. She always says that before you start investing money into stocks and shares, etc., the first investment should be yourself.
